Detailed Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1:
Arrival at Leh - Arrive Leh Airport (Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport at 3500m, one of highest airports, scenic flight with mountain views), hotel transfer, COMPLETE REST for acclimatization (Leh at 3500m altitude, risk of Acute Mountain Sickness - AMS if exerted on first day, symptoms: headache, nausea, breathlessness, avoid alcohol and smoking, drink lots of water, light meals, no bath on first day), keep day completely free, walk slowly if needed, oxygen cylinders available at hotels if required, doctor consultation free at SNM Hospital, evening short walk on Leh Mall Road only if feeling okay, overnight Leh|
Day 2:

Leh to Nubra Valley via Khardung La (125km, 5-6 hours) - Early morning drive to Nubra Valley crossing Khardung La Pass (5359m, world's highest motorable road as claimed, actually Umling La 5800m is higher, breathtaking views, BRO signboards, photos at Khardung La board, Army posts, AMS symptoms possible - headache normal, descend immediately if severe, oxygen at checkpost), descend to Nubra Valley (average 3000m, desert valley with Shyok and Nubra rivers confluence, cold desert, double-humped Bactrian camels), reach Hunder, check-in camp or hotel, afternoon Hunder Sand Dunes (white sand dunes unusual in high altitude Himalayas, double-humped Bactrian camels for riding Ôé╣300-500 for 1 km, cold desert landscape, photography heaven), Diskit Monastery (32m tall Maitreya Buddha statue overlooking valley installed 2010, 16th century monastery, museum, panoramic valley views, highest point in Diskit), evening bonfire at camp, overnight Nubra|
Day 4:
Nubra to Pangong Tso via Shyok Route (165km, 6-7 hours) - Checkout early morning, drive via Shyok River route (alternative offbeat route to Pangong avoiding returning to Leh, rough road but scenic, river crossings, narrow patches, adventurous, subject to road conditions), reach Pangong Tso Lake (4350m altitude, 134km long with 60% in China, saline lake changing colors blue, green, red throughout day depending on sunlight angle, "3 Idiots" movie climax shot here, brackish water doesn't support aquatic life but migratory birds in summer), check-in lakeside camp (Spangmik or Man village side, no permanent hotels, seasonal tented camps Apr-Oct, basic facilities, common washrooms, Ôé╣2000-4000 per tent with meals), afternoon by lake watching color changes, photography, sunset over mountains and lake, stargazing at night (one of darkest skies, Milky Way visible), overnight Pangong Lake camps (VERY cold even in summer, carry extra warm layers, no electricity in camps, generators till 10pm, limited mobile network)|

Pangong to Leh via Chang La (160km, 6 hours) - Early morning sunrise at lake (lake turns golden, pink, orange, blue shades, incredible experience), breakfast, checkout, drive back to Leh via traditional route through Chang La Pass (5360m, third highest motorable road, prayer flags, Chang La Cafe for tea, world's highest cafe claims, BRO board), descend to Leh via Thiksey (large monastery resembling Potala Palace, 12-story building, Maitreya Buddha, early morning prayers 6-8am are special), Shey Palace (ancient royal capital, 17.5m Shakyamuni Buddha statue inside temple), reach Leh afternoon, rest of day at leisure or shopping, overnight Leh|
Day 6:
